Our happy and healthy 3-year old
son Sebastian died in October
2007 because of a series of
preventable medical errors
including a medication overdose.
We believe future tragedies can
best be averted by the
specialized treatment of
children in a children’s
hospital. That is why we have
decided to devote our lives now
to building a children’s
hospital in Gainesville,
Florida. We formed the Sebastian
Ferrero Foundation to advocate
and fundraise for a full-service,
state-of-the-art children’s
hospital in Gainesville, Florida
and to promote excellence in
patient safety. Community
leaders, parents and more than
150 local pediatricians and
pediatric specialists have come
together with many others from
Shands HealthCare and the
University of Florida College of
Medicine to support this mission.
